It all started with an anonymous donation to the Medical Research Dept. In the letter with the contribution was a cryptic note that led researchers to a crate stored in the University "Basement". Inside was a sealed cylinder and the notes of one Professor Fallworth. Much of the strange diary is still under investigation. Prof. Fallworth wrote of an alien race of beings he called "The Fungi of Yuggoth". Upon opening the cylinder the Research Department was surprised to find a Living Human Brain. So much damage was done to the cylinder that the brain soon died.
The team went quickly to work, analyzing the container and with the help of the Professor's diary they were successful in re-creating a theoretically working unit. A practical application presented it'self when graduate student Richard Kasa was involved in a terrible accident that resulted in the
disintegration of 60% of his body. Doctors were at a loss and were barely keeping his vital signs going when Mary, his sister produced a document willing his body to science in the event of death or incurable condition. The medical research team assisted Dr. Lane, chief brain surgeon of Miskatonic Medical Center, and six hours later Mr. Kasa's brain resided in the "Braincase". Mr. Kasa was ill at ease at first, but after understanding his condition he has recovered well. A rated chess master before the accident, he now maintains over 200 active games without aid of board or notes, and his Master ranking has increased. He claims he is happy.
