"A small sacrifice for knowledge"

With just over 5,000 students, Miskatonic University is one of the smaller universities. We offer over 300 courses for you to choose from. We are based at six campuses, five in the Arkham area and one in California. The Arkham campuses have a rich history dating back to 1690, when the university was merely a converted estate, with two teachers and seven students.

Sometimes refered to as "the best kept secret in academia", Miskatonic has quietly grown thanks to timely and generous gifts from the alumni. Our lack of public funding has enabled us to offer students a unique breadth of choice, not only in academic subjects but also in the levels of study available and the different ways of attending. We aim to equip our students with highly-regarded qualifications, skills and experience which will further their career aspirations and enrich their future lives. Many courses contain some form of practical experience and provide strong vocational links with business, industry and the professions. Our academic staff are involved in applied research and consultancy and many of them have a background in business and the professions. We have somewhat of a reputation for the innovative nature of our research in a variety of fields, some of which is recognised for its excellence both nationally and internationally.

The flexibility and diversity of our courses attracts students of all ages from every background and from many different countries. About 60 percent of our students are undergraduate and our postgraduate population continues to grow. Approximately two thirds of our students study full- time. Although most of our students have been undertaking some kind of formal education in the year before they join us, a growing number are returning to study following periods in employment. Currently, about 40 per cent of our full-time undergraduate students are over 21 at the time they join us. This reflects our flexible policy to those who offer alternative experience and training to the normal entry requirements. Overseas students have always formed a large part of our student population and at present we have students from 54 other countries studying with us. Applications from students with special needs are welcomed and we will try to accomodate whenever possible.

When you join us as a student we will try to make you feel welcome and to offer any support you might need. We hope that within this prospectus you will find a course to suit your interests and career aspirations. If you need extra information or are unsure about any aspect of a course or university life, please contact us. We would be delighted to help, and look forward to hearing from you.
